Today I disassembled and cleaned the carb and the CM91 ran for a couple minutes! I then replaced the following parts:
spark plug, battery, front and rear tires and tubes, handlebar cushion rubber, front brake cable, speedometer cable, fuel line and filters.
The battery was a different size than stock but is sealed so it can go in sideways. It will need a custom bracket made to hold it securely. I lubed the chain and cleaned the fuel tank with vinegar and a short length of chain since it was a bit rusty from sitting.
I disassembled the front end to try to find where it was bent. I couldn’t find any binding in the suspension and it is difficult to tell what the stock geometry should be without an example of a good fork to compare to. New forks may be in the future. I went for a short test ride, and the bike rides ok but the engine still needs work as it revs up on its own.
