I’ve read that contrary to most modern bikes, on these small Hondas the rear brake provides most of the stopping power. My bike’s rear brake is hard as a rock and does little to slow the bike. The rear drum was worn to a glossy smooth surface, so I sanded it with 320 grit and cleaned it well. I cleaned the brake hub then polished and greased the pivot pins. The hub was assembled with new 2 Fast Moto brake shoes. After reassembly, the rear brake is now much more effective than the front brake and has much greater stopping power than it did before. While the front is still passable, I see this treatment in its future!
I’m all for brakes working when you’re out riding!! Hugs, Mom
